What is the ABB Handling/Loading Robot IRB 6650S?

The ABB Loading/Carrying Robot IRB 6650S is a member of the Power Robot family and is designed as a rack robot that offers a unique workspace. Compared to traditional robots, its full vertical and horizontal stroke movement increases forward and downward reach, providing flexibility and efficiency in many industrial applications. Thanks to these features, it is an ideal solution for demanding processes such as machine tending, material handling, spot welding, injection molding and die casting.

The IRB 6650S demonstrates superior performance, especially in material handling processes. When mounted on a raised rail, it can inspect more input conveyors than traditional ceiling or wall-mounted systems thanks to its longer forward and downward reach. It also simplifies the installation process and reduces costs by using the reverse rail.

Compatible with large injection molding machines, the IRB 6650S can easily perform additional tasks such as post-process flaring and assembly thanks to its six-axis structure. In die-casting applications, it performs mold spraying and part handling operations more effectively with its large work envelope, while the protected process cabling inside the robot arm extends the life of the cables.

In spot welding applications, the IRB 6650S can be mounted at different levels, increasing robot density in framing stations and enabling more efficient use of space. In addition, in press maintenance processes, it significantly reduces cycle times by facilitating the processing of large sheets and car bodies. With the LeanID Dress Pack option, it offers high flexibility in production lines by adapting to complex wrist movements.
