What is the ABB Welding Robot IRB 1520ID?

ABB’s IRB 1520ID is a high-precision arc welding robot equipped with an integrated hose package. This design integrates power, welding wire, shielding gas and compressed air along the robot’s upper arm and base, maximizing performance and energy efficiency. The IRB 1520ID offers stable welding, excellent trajectory accuracy, short cycle times and long hose package life. The integrated hose package allows for seamless welding around cylindrical objects and easier access to tight spaces.

With a payload capacity of 4 kg and a reach of 1.5 meters, the IRB 1520ID is extremely compact and can be used in both floor and inverted mounting positions. This flexibility offers short cycle times and a wide range of production. ABB’s second-generation TrueMove™ technology provides superior trajectory accuracy, while QuickMove™ technology minimizes energy consumption by achieving maximum acceleration between welds. The robot and arc welding process can be easily programmed and managed with the ABB FlexPendant with touch screen and joystick control. Additionally, offline simulation and programming are possible with RobotStudio™ and RobotStudio Arc Welding PowerPac software, resulting in predictable cycle times and high-quality welds.
